The Democrats didn’t do a good job. “You see what happens, Larry?!”

I remember when I watched “The Big Lebowski” for the first time and Walter (played by John Goodman) was going to town on a sports car with a crowbar saying, “You see what happens, Larry?!” It reminds me of politics lately. See, Walter wasn’t even beating on Larry’s car to try to make his point.  He was destroying the wrong damn car! Democrats are a lot like that.

The Republicans are rich assholes and poor folks who believe they’re going to be rich assholes someday. That’s it. Everyone else is supposed to vote Democrat. It may sound easy, but it’s really very difficult. How do you make that many folks happy? Or do anything? You’re not offering money or free things for everyone, you can’t. Some folks get a deal here and there with policy, but it’s not like we get paid to vote Democrat like republicans do, or think they do.

Democrats have tried a variety of messages and different ways of doing things to get one up on republicans. They have a better record with money, with anything than republicans do, really… they do, look it up. However, they have the image as the “poor” party. It doesn’t make any sense, unless you’re racist.

Back in the Reagan days, ole’ Ronnie used a term that haunts me, “Welfare Queens.” While it may have been a brilliant evil scheme, to this day that term plagues social work. It paints a very inaccurate picture. Ronald Reagan (and Nancy too!) was wanting you to imagine a black woman. That was the picture next to “welfare queens” on the news. Black women. He wanted you to think black women didn’t need welfare so he could spend the money on nukes or whatever the fuck. It’s been proven over and over that the whole notion of “welfare queen” to begin with is a myth. You can look that up too!

How shitty is that? There’s more white welfare mothers than black ones. But white wanna be rich asshole republicans loved it. Around that time, I noticed a lot of folks say “poor” when they meant “black.” Ronald was just visualizing what everyone thought; the poor in the U.S. was because of black people having babies. Never mind all the other folks on welfare, or rich folks fleecing taxes to pay for foreign regime changes, and more. People voted against poor black people, a lot. Wanna’ know why there was so much “hustlin’” and “success” in the 80’s? It’s because rich folks felt “right” in treating poor folks like shit because those rich assholes actually thought they “deserved” to be rich and black folks, in particular, “deserved” to be poor. That was coincidentally when trump was popular for being rich. Go figure. He even had a “best-seller.” Lol. Which is funny given his 5th grade vocabulary. Bet he couldn’t read his way out of a paper bag. But, anyway.

Fast-forward to today. We elect the fascist asshole. People are more afraid of being poor than they are of war. Jeebus Christ, folks. Wake up. If someone is a racist, it’s the fucking 90’s, you’re fine calling them a racist. Same if they’re crazy, misogynistic, brainwashed, etc. They aren’t supposed to be that way. Something has gone wrong. Let them know that.

Use your words. Ignoring this shit just kicks the can down the road. Your kids end up dealing with it. Be right, be strong. Thanks.
