Life Ain’t Worth A Song
My wife and I have been writing songs together for a few years. A year ago this month, this EP, “Life Ain’t Worth A Song,” was released. I thought I would share it while I listened to it in the spirit of celebration. .
It starts off with the song, “How From When.” This is the video featured from bandcamp. What stands out to me listening to this one is how much I enjoy performing it. I can’t help it. It has things in it I don’t get to do often. This song just sounds like that elusive, slippery word to me, “fun.”
The next song Keri wrote nearly all of. “Maybe.” I love listening to Keri sing. She has what I call an “honest” voice. She is centered around the message of what she’s actually singing. It makes her vocals chime clear and with a ring of truth. All message, no filler. I love that about Keri.
“Splitting the Nerve” was written by friends of ours. They live in Upstate NY close to where Keri and I lived. They have a bluegrass band called Brain Medicine. Brain Medicine is a band that harnesses whimsy and humor and unleashes it upon those lucky enough to listen. They are a warm glow and friendly sound in any room. They just make me feel good. Here’s a recent video of theirs.
I wrote “Too Good” from a story told to me my a good friend. He’s a musician. We’ve played in bands together. One time he had two gigs in one night in Western Louisiana. He then attempted to drive back home to here in North Texas without getting rest. Well, rest got him. He fell asleep at the wheel. He was not hurt. His story and the way he told it to me are somehow related to this song. It’s what I think about when singing it. I’d also like to thank Roger Brainard for the lead guitar. He does amazing work.
This EP was mixed by Deluxe Mixing. Adam does amazing work. If you ever need help with mixing, I definitely recommend him. He’s honest, courteous, fair, and very skilled. We love Adam at Deluxe Mixing.
Thanks for celebrating a year with me! Hopefully lots more to come!
