Get ready.

(You asked for it).

I’d start off preparing for a Trump administration by getting vaccinated. It may be your last “shot” at it. (See what I did there?) This is because not only did Trump select an anti-vaxxer as his dept of health guy, Trump said many times in speeches (no one went to) that he was cutting federal funding for schools requiring vaccinations. (That’s all public schools). Don’t expect vaccines to be around for long.

Similar to vaccines, I’d stock up on meds. This system they’re starting isn’t kind to poor sick people. Your insurance is changing. If it’s possible for you to get meds prescribed out at a good rate you can afford, that’s worth doing, in my opinion. There’s not much in republican policy at all about making healthcare more affordable if you’re poor already. Sorry.

I’d quit news that isn’t true. A firm sense of reality is going to be a valuable asset. If you’re constantly piling fiction in your brain disguised as reality, you could likely use a break from that. I’ve limited my news to ProPublica, The Guardian, and Mother Jones. I’ve still been off social media. I even touched grass. I’ve found this very helpful. I recommend less screen time and social media often. It’s just not real.

The facts are there are no silver linings and many folks are in real danger. It’s hard to have deep policy talks while the comet is falling out of the fucking sky and headed towards us.  Not to mention, if you’re MAGA, you’re not capable of deep politics anyway. “Deport them” or “convert them” aren’t deep strategies or even new ones. They’re old ones. Outdated. Yet, that’s what folks want. Even folks who are getting deported, beats all I ever saw.
